A couple of gals and another couple got sidetracked on the way up too. We ventured off the trail through the dead fall and could see a lot of clearing that has already been done. It starts with a climb up a bushy slope on the east side of busy Highway 99. The forested section was a little disappointing to see but at the same time it makes you think. The second third of the way up was along the logging road. Petgill Lake is a small, scenic lake, perfect for a summertime dip. From there, about 10 minutes to a very beautiful viewpoint , a bit of wind and fresh air. The trail starts quite steep, and a bit overgrown, but clears out once you gain some elevation. Nobody penetrated set security there to see filming at Petgill Lake in Murrin Provincial Park, Shannon Falls or other area locations, but fans and paparazzi could track the cast fairly easily from their hotels there, capturing Robsten out for dinner, taking in a movie and celebrating her 21st birthday riding a mini-motorcycle. On the way down we hit 1 viewpoint we missed on the way up (around 1/2 way down), that had yet anther great view of the Chief and Squamish from a rarely seen angle.
